Denture is a tool to replace missing teeth and gum tissue around them. The use of dentures can overcome complaints that arise due to missing teeth, such as eating and speaking disorders, and decreased self-confidence.
Dentures are usually needed by people aged 60 years and over, because teeth are often lost at that age. However, dentures can also be needed by children and adults who have lost teeth.
Dentures that can be removed are further divided into two types, namely partial dentures and complete dentures.
Partial dentures are used when one or more teeth are missing, but the patient still has some healthy permanent teeth in the upper or lower jaw.
Complete dentures are used when all of the upper or lower teeth need to be removed. Dentures of this type can also be used to replace dentures that have been worn by patients for a long time.
